War #2: How It Came To This

War #2: How It Came To This

Next episode: Dirty Floors

(Previously)

This will be the last War for October. I'll finish #3 in November, after which I can hopefully start updating it a little more regularly!

Coming up next on Skary.net, that collage I promised! Hooray!

Downloads and Photos and War (oh my?)

Monday, August 17th, 2009

Wow! The response to War #1 has been very positive. I must say I'm surprised you didn't all drag me off to the stocks after what happened in the first episode, but then I guess you wouldn't know how she got into that mess nor what happens after, would you? See, I planned it that way. Always thinking, that's me. Episode #2 is mostly penciled and ready for redrawing/coloring. I'd like to say it will be up next week, but don't take that to the market. Things have been a bit crazy around here with other projects.

Speaking of other projects, did you see? Well, did you? There's a new Downloads page! At the moment, it simply has a few Twitter backgrounds for your use, but there will be more downloads in the near future. As far as those Twitter backgrounds go, I've included the most requested characters for now. Are there any others you'd like to see?

In other news, the first place winner of Casilda's Hat Contest has received her hat. And look! She's taken pictures!

I think it works for her, don't you? Rena is also a model for House of Pomegranates, which I encourage everyone to check out.

In case you thought I'd forgotten, I'm still working on an animated short, and as soon as I can figure out how, there will be close captioning of some sort on the YouTube videos for the hard of hearing. I'm also putting that collage together. I've received a lot of wonderful photos, but I can definitely use more. Have you seen anything that reminded you of Skary? Send photos! There's no deadline, and the collage will be updated as long as I continue to receive pictures.

Okay, all right and what-have-you. That's the news. How about a few emails, eh? (more...)

War #1: Do Not Go Quietly

Saturday, August 15th, 2009

The very first episode of Ida's War is finally ready for human consumption!  All future episodes will be in short segments like this until the story is complete. And no matter how nicely you ask me, no - I won't tell you what's going to happen before another one's up (because I'm not telling) or even when the next one will be up (because I probably don't know). So, here it is. I hope you like it. (Note, if you're new to Skary, this will make a lot more sense to you if you've seen Ida's Luck.)

And, gosh, I hope you're following me on Twitter.

(Okay, and Facebook.)

My next blog post will include the current state of the By Jove! It's Skary! collage, some answers to some emails, and other nifty things. After I've had a break and maybe a sandwich, that is.

Graveyard Swing Shift

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

I've been receiving lots of really great images for the By Jove! It's Skary! collage (keep them coming!), but I just had to call attention to this one. It's pretty much the greatest thing I've ever seen. This photo comes from Auburn who says: "I took this picture outside my friend's Seventh Day Adventist church. The fact that it was such a creepy image outside of a church...I just had to take it."

Thanks, Auburn!

In other news, the first episode of War should be up next weekend. (Remember now, it's a webcomic and not an animation.) I can't make any promises as to a regular update schedule, but I can say that this will be updated with some regularity and will continue until the tale is told. I promise lots of blood and guts and a good story while I'm at it, so get your popcorn ready and make yourselves comfortable.

New Webcomic A-Comin’

Saturday, July 18th, 2009

It's 1947. Mankind is still recovering from its second world war. It's the perfect time for Something Terrible.

A new webcomic coming soon.

SKARYVILLE TRUTH

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Casilda's Hat Contest has drawn to a close at last. The entries have been sent to the judges who are busy reading each every one and picking their favorites as I speak (well, maybe not right this very second. They could very well be taking a shower or peeling onions or something). Results should (hopefully!) be posted some time within the next couple of weeks. I won't give you any hints as to who's ahead so far, but I can honestly say that they were all just wonderful and wonderfully creepy to boot! It's obvious that a lot of work went into these. Good work, all of you! This decision will not be easy.

Oh, and look at this! Kim in OK has sent a photo of her Emmeline tattoo, which was done by Brooke Cooke in Conway, AR:

From Kim (age 29), Oklahoma

She plans to add the Neighbor Boy soon. I can't wait to see it!

At this rate, I wonder if I'll ever catch up on my inbox, but I suppose I have time to answer one question:

Hey! I love ur videos, yet the creepy part about them is the lingering question, What if that really did happen? Or already did? -C (more...)

A strange, silent little girl turns up out of nowhere on a stormy day with only a name tag to identify her. Luckily, a kindly older couple takes her in, but for Ida and the people of Catterwall, this is where the luck ends. It seems everywhere Ida goes, misfortune is soon to follow. And it's about to get much worse. (Part 2)
